Jun 25, 2012 Ports and Features. One way to tell a true business class notebook from an entry level or consumer model is by the variety of ports included. This ThinkPad T430 is a true business class notebook; it includes the expected USB ports but also has DisplayPort (albeit a mini version), a SmartCard reader (a $10 option). Re: Is this T430 configuration worth the extra $? 08:37 PM usually i just choose the 6205 intel wireless card, it is more than capable especially in a school environment.

Is a T430 still worth it in 2017?
I am planning to buy a T430 with i5, nvidia NVS 5400M, 1600x900 screen, fingerprint, webcam and backlit keyboard used in good conditon. I then want to put in the Alienware M14XR2 screen, an Intel i7-3632QM, 16GB RAM, a 120GB mSATA SSD and a 1TB HDD. I am planning to use it as a full desktop replacement (i will sell my personally built desktop and all my gaming periphials). Would that be worth it or would that be too expensive and unreasonably? imo, the T430 is the perfect thinkpad as it is fairly modern but still a real thinkpad with things like ThinkLight, clamshell design, ThinkVantage, socketed CPU etc. Should I rather buy an i7 T440s for the same money as a fully modified and upgraded T430?

Hi everyone,I am new to this forum and I'd just like tio have your opinion on my next laptop.
Searching here and there, I found the T430 to be very interesting and I found a refurbished grade A for 250 bucks.
Specs are:
- 4GB RAM
- 320 HDD
- used battery
As it does not come with a SSD and the battery is used, so the first things I thought were to:
1) buy a new SSD to be used just for the operating system (I am using Ubuntu 16.04), and
2) buy a new battery (9 cell 70++ 94Wh) on the lenovo website for about 110 bucks.

My doubts: I will use it for developing purposes (not gaming, just websites), and common simple stuff like watching a movie sometimes.
For the price (250 laptop + 110 battery ~= 360 bucks) is it worth the deal in 2018?
The SSD will probably come in the future, and hte RAM as well (4 GB more to reach .
Hope to hear your suggestions. Thanks in advance!
